Located just over three miles from the Hampton Inn Vanderbilt West End and Hampton Inn & Suites Vanderbilt Elliston Place is Greer Stadium – home of the AAA baseball club Nashville Sounds. Getting there from the hotels is easy. From West End Avenue, head east towards Broadway and take the Interstate-40 South ramp towards Knoxville and follow for about a mile. Take exit 210C south, US-31A, and turn right on 4th Avenue for about a half mile. Turn right at Chestnut Street and the stadium will be on your left.
The Nashville Sounds are a minor league baseball team of the Pacific Coast League. The team is located in Nashville, Tennessee and plays at Herschel Greer Stadium. Opened in 1978, the park holds 10,700 fans. The club joined the PCL during its amalgamation of the American Association in 1998. They are the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The name "Sounds" refers to the country music recording industry of Nashville. The Sounds won the PCL Championship in 2005, sweeping the Tacoma Rainiers in three games in the final series. The Sounds will be leaving Greer Stadium for a new ballpark in 2008. First Tennessee Field is currently being constructed on the west bank of the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville, just two miles north of the current stadium.
